My male betta fish is dying. His skin is becoming white and flaky. He hardly moves. Please, anyone know what to do?

When you say flaky, exactly what do you mean? Are part coming off? I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that your fish has a parasite infestation. While it's not ich, ich is a parasite and ich medicine will kill other kinds of parasites too. Treat him with a good ich medicine like Quick Cure. Treat him for 10 days and change his water every day before adding new medicine. That just might do the trick.

How old is it? You can't stop him from dying from old age. If it looks like some sort of ick, show a fish care specialist at your local fish store, they'll help you find a good treatment.

I think your betta might be sick from ick. Ick is sort off this cotton like substance that sometimes grow on fish. If it is not Ick your fish might be dying from old age. Weel, I hope your fish will get better soon.

Sounds like a parasite, try Wal-mart or any pet store and they have all kinds of medication and symtons that the meds will treat. I am so sorry. Good Luck

You probably just have to let him go. Sorry. Or you could try buying some fish drops for scales from your local pet store.

TAKE HIM TO THE VET!!

Part of being a "responsible" pet owner is giving regular medical checkups, and also getting your fish to a vet (hopefully one that specializes in fish although don't waste a lot of time looking) when urgent care is needed - and this qualifies.

Not doing anything is considered neglect which is also abuse.

If you can afford to get a pizza, you can afford a simple visit to the vet. Get going!

i have had a similar situation,my friend who is a fish expert added aquarium salt coverd the tank with towels to block out ligjt(eliminates stress) we moved it to a quiet place and fed him, left him alone for a week,it sounds strange but a week later he was fine.

Sounds like Ich. Flush him down the toilet and clean the bowl good and get a new one. Its a beta fish, their disposable.

Sounds like he is in trouble, prepare yourself for the worst. Try some water treatment that works for multiple problems, try not to stress him out.
