Yes if you are not doing something with your expectations but NO if you are. Reaching high expectations or standards should be one's goal in life. We only pass this life once, make the best out of it. Imagine how fulfilled will you be when you reached this standards or expectations. But as the saying goes, the higher you fly the harder the hit when you fall down. But I don't mind as long as i see the sky and enjoyed the panoramic view of others mediocrity. I still set up high expectations for myself.
Caution though be realistic with your goals, set only those that you can reach. Don't aim for the moon, when you can even reach the top of the mountain. Dream, believe and achieve!

Yes, that certainly is possible, but not setting expectations will not save you from disappointment either. If you research anyone person who is, let us say for example, an A-List actor or actress, there are a number of disappointing performances s/he will put on before perfecting her/his art. And even then, there is no guarantee that s/he will never be in a an unsuccessful film. But they have set the expectations for themselves to be the absolute best at what they do. Have you ever seen a baby learn how to walk? They fall many times before they cna even stand without assistance. An observer may think it is cute, but it is amazing cos they have the expectation of themselves that they are going to stand, on their own, and walk! If a baby can accomplish such a feat, imagine what YOU can do when you put a fire under your tush, and what you CAN'T if you DON'T!!!! You need to set reasonable goals for yourself, only you will know if they are too high for you. Know yourself!

The opposite. If you don't have high expectations for yourself, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Even if you don't succed at everything you will learn and grow from the experience. It will be a long, hard life if you don't grow and push yourself to do better.

for me personally, I find that I set myself up for disappointment even if I have low expectations in life; a co-worker once told me the way to never suffer disappointment is to not have ANY expectations to begin with!

People tend to rise up and face challenges as much as not. If you don't set high goals, you're not going to try to achieve them, and the greatest of goals are only met thru effort and self-expectation. The lazy way out is to set NO goals and never take the risk of failure.

that's quite an somewhat undesirable element. whilst a parents have severe expectancies for a newborn they have a bent to rigidity extra at an early age. including strolling, flash enjoying cards, memory and such. this might reason the newborn to alter into under pressure and open to maldevelopment. this might undesirable reason issues later in existence including a character affliction. yet even only having severe expectancies might reason a trend of failure which may bring about low self-worth and self image. Sorry i replaced into uncertain what you have been asking so I spoke back 2 issues.

you can set goals that are too high, but if you don't set high enough goals, you'll get nowhere. if you don't at least try, you'll be more disappointed.
