I heard the Brady Bill expired and Bush didn't sign the sunset clause to renew it and that now you can again walk into any store and walk out with a hand gun and amo after a quick background check.. is this true or just hear say?

josie, please take your foot out of your mouth and think instead of reacting. I probably own more guns than you.. I do live in the south after all.. and how long a background check takes depends on what type of check and what system it goes threw.. a police records check on your social takes a couple of minutes tops.. an FBI check with your prints might take a week.. this was a question about if this was true.. not a place for you to rant.

No, the Brady Bill has not expired. The Brady Bill still requires either waiting periods or instant-checks for handgun purchases. My state uses and instant check system, so I can walk into a store, buy a handgun and walk out with it (after instant check approval.)

The assault weapons ban did expire, but congress never sent an extension of the ban to the president, so he never had a chance to sign an extension. I say good riddance to the ban.

I can not speak for the rest of the country, but in Florida there is still a three day waiting period on handguns. In Florida, rifles and shotguns are sold over the counter same day (providied the ATF background checks clear). The gun ban's expiration did not remove the state of Florida's silly waiting period requirements. So, I would have to say its hearsay. Besdies what is wrong with purchasing a tool and the supplies for it's application at the same time?

Quick background check?? Dude do you even own a gun?? You dont even know what your talking about. Background checks are not quick. They take a few days. Its not like your walking into a store and out with a gun the same day. Why shouldnt we be able to have guns?? Our government has them isnt it for the people by the people?? Dont forget guns dont kill people. I'm sure your one of the happy Left that wants to change our Constitutional rights too arn't you?? You Lefties just kill me!!! If you actually looked at some statistics you would find in states that have carry conceal laws crime rates drop. Criminals dont know will I get shot will they fight back. I say keep em guessing!!! NRA baby!!!!

So dude why are you getting all cranky with me if you own so many guns?? I really doubt that you own more guns than I do and who cares where you live?? So you live in the South I live in the North I would bet I have more guns than you. Not just shot guns either!! Yes I'm glad they have background checks however they dont work do they the criminals still have the guns!! In my State which is a Democratic State we are one of three that dont have Carry Conceal. However Violent Crime in the State is up with repeat criminals!!! How do you explain that?? I'm all for allowing people to carry and protect themselves statistics back up what I say!!! What do you have!!!!
