I just turned 20 years old and still often buy in the juniors section, as I find their clothes to be the trendiest. At the same time, I want to look age appropriate. So I was wondering at what age do I look into the women's section? =)

Well what shape are you? It's not how old you are it's whether or not you have a curvy shape. If you do then you should be shopping in Misses/Womens. If you have more of a narrow shape, and you don't have to be skinny either, such as straight hips and not much difference in inches between your hips and your waist (6 inches or less), then you would be more suitable to wear Juniors clothing as it's cut for a juniors shape. This is because most girls in their teens don't get curves until they're in their late teens so the Junior size is best for them. But some people have this shape naturally. And not all Juniors styles are young. You just have to shop around at different stores. JCPenney, Sears, TJMaxx, Marshall's...if you look through their Junior department you can usually find something that looks a bit older.

Misses sizes are evens, but not including the size 0's range, they start at size 2 and end at size 14 or 16 I believe.

Juniors starts at size 00, includes 0 and 1-13.

Womens in most stores is size 16 or 18 and up.

Age is not the question. Style and size is more important. If you are 20, you can certainly buy in either juniors or women's. The choice is yours. Look in both sections and pick the clothes that best suit you. If you need a business suit, you may do better in the women's department. If you need cool casual wear the juniors may be more suitable.

Attitude not age is the best reason for shopping in either department.

There isn't a real age. Some people just buy in the women's section, by lack of choice.
Since nothing fits in the teens section. Or again, some teens clothes may be cheaper, or vice versa.

If you know what to wear when you want to go work, to school, or to a bar, if you can make those differences, then it doesn't matter where you shop.

there isnt really a certain age..i would start looking in the women's section to have a more sophisticated look (you dont really have to now, but if you are looking for something like that then look in women's) you can look in the women's section whenever you want. and you dont have to only wear clothes from the women or junior's section, you can wear stuff from both depending on the occasion. i am 14 and in department stores, i look in juniors first and then look in womens just to see if there is anything i like. if i would put an age on when to stop looking in juniors, i would say about 23.

It's not so much about age - it's about size and style. When your body changes from its teenage shape to a more mature shape, you'll find the cut of the clothes in the women's section will fit you better.
Also, it depends on the style that is appropriate for your lifestyle - for casual dates, the flair of the juniors section is better, but for professional/work situations, the more conservative style and superior workmanship of the women's section is better.
So try a mix - I'm almost thirty, but slim, so I shop in both sections depending on the style I need, and I started at about your age.

properly i'm 17 and that i sort of flow in-between. i'm incredibly skinny and tall, so teenager sizes frequently greater healthful my physique type greater effective. yet while i discover something i admire interior the girls's area that suits, i will decide for it. finally, i do no longer think of it concerns what area your outfits come from. as long as you gown your age, it is all reliable. i've got certainly found stuff I liked interior the lads's area earlier, and that i'm waiting to positioned on it in a girly way. while women question me the place i'm getting those products, they are tremendously shocked.

The women's section often refers to sizes rather than style. However it is most important to choose clothing that fits appropriately, both in size and situation. Obviously you are conscientious about this so I am sure you won't have a problem.

Okay... I'm a guy and maybe this is just something that's out of my league, but wouldn't you switch sections when you can't fit in the Jr sizes anymore or you find something you like in the other section?

I'd switch over to women's when juniors clothes aren't big enough anymore (usually because you've gotten taller). Since you say you're 20, you're most likely done growing. Another factor is to look at what you want to wear. If you like junior clothes, wear them. If you decide you like something over in women's, wear that. It doesn't really matter.

if you can get away with it go for it, i was wearing clothes from the lady bird range till i was nearly in my 20,s. even now, i am a granny at 56, i still like to look good and wear clothing that is meant for younger people . without looking like muton dressed as lamb my 24 year old daughter helps me choose and tells me if it is not appropriate.
