i think you need to be more clear on what you're looking for. Poe was a direct influence on his own stories, he wrote them...

Poe led a VERY depressing life. He lost a lot of people who were important to him and was never very well himself. If you want to read up on it try wikipedia. Anyhow his experiences really inspired his writing. He was also on and off of drugs all the time and wrote a lot of his works while he was high.

When you read any of the biographies of Poe you quickly see that his life was surrounded in suffering, misfortunes and issues. Some of these were of his own choosing but some came on him, the the TB in the women he loved, out of the blue and caused him tremendous suffering and his inordinate obsession with death. Read a couple biographies and you'll see it too.
