I read on UT's athletics web site that Kevin Durant is from Maryland, and also went to school there. However, in the 2006 McDonald's All-American game, he played on the West team. Does this strike anyone as odd? Was there a reason for this?

Not totally sure, sometimes they do that. I remember them putting Stanley Roberts on the West side with Shawn Kemp (possibly to match up with Alonzo Mourning).
