Consider the source... most nail biting is a mild form of OCD. You need to find some other way to vent your frustrations. Mayo Clinic just came out with a study - people who fidget use 350 more calories per day than people whom don’t. Nervous energy can be good for weight loss but it stresses the body. Try to be aware of the time you start biting and why. It’s probably when you’re not thinking about anything in particular. So try to keep a journal of your daily routine and (times) when you bite. This will allow you to see what you’re concerned about. Then control the biting. Maybe start by flicking your nails instead. It will only annoy those people around you but you will have nails.

My Grandma would put pepper on their fingers to keep her kids from biting. You may try that for quick fix.

im currently getting over biting my nails, i had been biting ALL my life and i'm horrible, i dont just bite my nails but i rip off my skin until i bleed
what worked for me is- file, them clip off anything that you could grab onto and rip and just use nail polish like CRAZY
even if you have little stubs, use nail polish
and even if you keep trying to do something, concentrate more on removing the nail polish if you're going to pick, not removing your nail
you might get into the habit of picking.. nail polish? but that's better than your nails and slowly you'll just stop
good luck

Every so often put nail polish remover on your nails, once you feel the urge to bite them the disgusting flavor of the remover will disgust you enough to not bite them for a while.

Bite your toe nails instead. Only joking thats disgusting, Yes I agree try a polish that will look pretty but taste exactly the opposite! it should break the habit, i used to bit my nails and now they are clear, soft, chipped, bendable and out of control! So dont bite them!

I tried putting bad-tasting nail polish on my nails, painting them a bright or pretty color so I wouldn't want to bite them, and cutting them short so I would grow out of the habit while they came back. I don't know, something worked, because I don't do it anymore!

When I had this problem, I would go and get my nails done. So that way they were too hard to chew on. And I would paint them pretty colors. I would also spend money. I knew that if I bit my nails I was wasting my money.

If that doesn't work, chew on a piece of gum or play around with you hands so that way you can't pull your hands away to chew on your finger nails.

Errgghhh! I dread it when people doo that! Paint some nasty tasting lacquer on or you can go to your drug store to ask about nail products.
