There is currently a large debate within my workplace... are capris considered business casual attire? Some say they are... others say they are not. The dress code police are inconsistent with their response.

Capri's are definitely business casual if they are the right material and worn the right way. I would recommend calling them "cropped" pants in the work place. It just makes them sound more sophisticated and chic. Make sure your cropped pants are not denim. They must be linen or khaki. Then try pairing heels or cute flats with them.

It depends on the type of capri's in my opinion. Capri's that are more like slacks I think have become business casual when worn with the right type of blouse and shoes.

You are right, your friends are wrong. Jeans are not "Business Casual", Jeans are casual. You'll be fine with the slacks and the blouse. Basically, for women, all business casual means is ANYTHING BUT JEANS. And obviously nothing revealing or inappropriate, like flip flops or tank tops. For guys it means slacks and a button down, but no jacket or tie is required.

I can imagine...the debate within YA is pretty enlightening. I personally wear cropped pants (a little too much junk in my trunk lately to make slinky capris attractive, LOL!) to my part-time job and have never had a problem with them. If your office guru can't decide, I'd suggest allowing them until someone finds a reason to prohibit them.

I would say they are. I have two pair that would be business. They are not jeans, and they are kind of thick legged. My Paralegal teacher said the other day that they would be just fine to wear in an office environment.

I think it depends what you wear them with, like a nice twinset and cute flats, that would be nice. I wouldn't wear them with thong sandals and a tshirt to work.
