I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima with almost 93,000 miles. When I first start the car, there is a small squeak lasting only a second or two. If I turn the heat on, it makes a very loud sound (not a squeak, more like a rattling sound) but if I turn the heat off, it makes no noise; the car sounds normal. I had the serpentine belt replaced in September or October of 2005. No other work (other than oil changes) has been done since then. Like I said before, it only makes the loud rattling sound when the heat is on. Please help. Will my car break down on me?

The sound is coming from the engine near the front.

The AC doesn't come on when I turn the car on. It only comes on if I manually turn it on. The heat/AC still work normally, it's just that when I use either the loud noise starts. It will stop if I turn the heat/AC off.
