I had an interview at my local hospital about 2 weeks ago, they phoned me up that evening and said i got the job, i just need to wait for a letter which will tell me everything. the work place were i am now have received references, and sent them off, i just seem to be waiting and they haven't even sent me a CRB form to fill out yet so it cant be that im waiting for, anybody in the hospital proffession please help, how long will it be till i get the letter? And what am i hanging around for?

Call them. 2 Weeks is way to long to hear nothing. There is no reason to keep you in the dark. A week is even a long time to get any paperwork done. If you knew when to start it would be a different story but this smells like some miscommunication.

Each hospital, just like every other company out there, will have their own way of doing things. When I interviewed for my current job (residency coordinator in a teaching hospital) I got a call offering me the job while driving home from the interview. I didn't even receive a formal letter, just a 'formal' phone call a day or two later to set up an appointment to return for my physical and followup HR paperwork.
