Not long... your body will adjust. Everyone is different though. I was only engorged for a few days, but it can last a few weeks for some.

it really just depends i consider myself an old pro at breastfeeding 3 children never had bottles breastfed for 13-16 months. it is different with everyone. you can express some milk by hand in warm shower which is what i would do but the more milk you express the more you produce. so you don't wnat to do it a lot but it should give you some relief. never thought i would be so happy to stand under a hot shower and squeeze my boobs. LOL your body and baby will get in sync soon and you will produce just the right amount. not that you won't have discomfort if baby goes a bit longer during feedings. seemed like sometimes i was putting baby on all of the time just to get some relief. good luck and hang in there!

Your breasts should not be sore and hard between feedings, unless your baby isn't eating enough, or you're producing too much milk. Eventually, your supply will even out to meet your baby's demands. If you have too much milk, get a breast pump and pump the extra. You can freeze it and use it when you go on a date with your husband some day, or when you might want to have a break for another reason. Or, you can donate it to the international breastmilk project, and save babies' lives in Africa!

It depends on how well your baby latches on. If he is pretty good at it I would say about a week or 2. But I recommend you to buy a moisturiser for breastfeeding mothers. It helps a lot. Try Lansinoh, put it on your around the nipple for the last month of your pregnancy after every shower and and once you start breastfeeding continue to do so. It is baby safe. Congratulations btw =)

Just hang in there, for me it took 5 weeks after giving birth at the beginning I seriously was thinking in quitting ,but then you think about the benefits it gives you and your baby and you continue, but to help the pain is warm and cool icepacks and apply Lanolil breast lotion which doesn't affect the baby at all and it really helps, the only thing is that its messy so you have to wear breast pads then it won't get on your clothes. You can find it at Target. Hope you feel better.

TO be honest if your breastfeeding often enough you should never experience this.
Try nursing at least 10-12 times in a 24 hour period.
You are experiencing engorgment. Not good.

everyone has a different experience.
don't stop breastfeeding just cuz it might hurt a little at first. it will go away and is worth a little pain for a couple of weeks. i never had much trouble with painful engorgement myself...my son ate alot. my nipples were only sore the first three weeks and that was just when he ate and that was only on my right nipple.

the hardness will go away slowly all of a sudden one day you'll be like oh yah i used to be all hard but it only really really hurts for the first week or so maybe 2 if your really unlucky for me my nipples were the sorest on day four after that everything was uphill but it depends what your little baby is like my son was a pig so i think that helped it get over with faster for your nipples you can get lanolin it helps for the sting and is completly safe for baby

for the first few days they will be so sore after the milk flow adjusts they will be fine but if they continue to be sore or lumpy contact your doctor it could be mastitis but you can still breast feed don't give up congrats

two weeks is usually the magic number...hang on for two weeks and then your breasts will adjust to all this new stuff!
Until then, warm showers can help alleviate some of the engorgemnet and nurse your baby everytime she cries....no matter if she just ate or not...just lay in bed, do nothing but nurse the baby!
