ship it's cargo

Why is it that when you transport something by car it is called a shipment but when you transport something by ship it's called a cargo

that's how I thought the question should have finished

If thats what you meant then I'm not sure why that is, it's a conundrum

You ship the cargo no matter what means of transportation you use, so even by car it's cargo.
