The Queen does a good job and realises that she holds her position because of her professionalism and the goodwill of the population of the UK. So there is a place for a Head of State.

However, the rest of them - the 'aristocracy' hold influence and power they never deserved and have no right to hold.

So, step one - re-organise the House of Lords, step two - dissolve all hereditory titles, step three - limit the position and priviledge to the Head of State as a nod to history.

The tourists will still come to look at the castles etc - the land is full of history that does not depend on the Windsors. Their family was not part of it.

Absolutely not. As an American I envy the British for their traditions, culture and pomp and circumstance that the royal family carries on and stands for. The royals bring in millions of dollars each year from tourists that want to see the changing of the guard, catch a glimpse of the queen and visit the museums to which the royals have donated works of art.
Just think of the tax money that is being made just off the sale of tabloids with royal smut in them.

No, I think they are interesting, and its just sorta tradition, its not like they have a ton of power or anything, its more that people like to hear about them and gossip, and they do humanitarian things sometimes. I find them interesting (i'm not british by the way so I guess I can't speak for the British people)

That's up to the British people to decide. Royalty is a primitive idea that was thrown out in many countries. If the British have care to keep it going - - - fine. If they decide that it's time to modernize - - - fine.

No! Why mess around with tradition that has worked for generations?

England gets lots and lots of tourist dollars from the fact that they're there.

They were anointed by the Roman Church, so they may have a little problem with claiming the royal title. Maybe....

It doesn't matter what you think, royalty is a going concern in the United Kingdom, and that's the way it is.
