I have a reasearch paper on the the castles effect on society and culture during the medieval age... does anyone have any good refernces i can use... an thing will help... thanx

Castles were a statement of power and control. When William the Conqueror first came into Britain he actually brought a wooden castle with him. Once he won the battle at Hastings, he moved quickly to establish other castles. He was here to stay and wasn't going to allow any uprisings against him. When Edward I moved into Wales he built a string of castles, to establish his power and presence.
