As a marine biologist I think it is my duty to help inform people, such as you, who are woefully unaware of the complex social interaction and habits of our mammalian sea friends.

Yes, it is true, that many people believe that dolphins and even ,egad, porpoises migrate to Nebraska. So I don't blame you for believing that.

There have been many studies over the years regarding these wonderful creatures. They are not only intelligent, but also have a very sophisticated language. We have been able, for the most part, to decipher and understand their language.

But first, let me defrock your initial assumption. Dolfins do not migrate. While it is true they do swim in pods, much like the whale, they have more of an individual persona.

Because of that unique quality, and our ability to understand their speach, we have been able to, with full confidence, determine where they have visited and perhaps even lived. I can assure you, dear woman, that they have never been to Nebraska.

Texas, yes. Just last week we heard one say to the pod "Y'all get over here fo fish". Boston has been proven last year when a recording from the head male was translated as "Cayeful the aw shawks heah". Might have had a visit in New York too. We cant be sure.

But be assured, there will never be a time that you have to worry about thousands of dolfins flopping around your front yard and crushing your pretty daisys. At least not in Nebraska.

I hope this has helped.

I'm not sure. I didn't know the Miami Dolphins played in Nebraska. Does Nebraska have an NFL team? I don't think so. But maybe there are some players on the team that might visit Nebraska sometime.

They migrate in SEPTEMBER, people! I'm the one with the beachfront property, downtown Omaha...I think I would know!

December is when they sprout wings and fly south for the winter.
