When traveling outside the US with a 7 month baby, do you need to have a passport for the baby as well? or would any other documents like a birth certificate help ?

"All U.S. Citizens Must Have Their Own Passport.

Since January 1981, family members are not permitted to be included in each other's passports. Even newborn babies need their own passports to travel."

You need a passport... Unless you are travelling to Canada by vehicle... Then you just need the birth certificate, you dont need a passport driving over the border untill January of 2008

You may want to contact the airport or airline. My sons used to get away with birth certificates but I got them passports.
