Some man wants to sue me, saying that I told people lies about him, BUT all I did was tell the truth, not one word I said was a lie. How do I go about defending myself from all of his NASTY email, and treatning phone calls. What can I do, besides calling the police, he harrasses me constantly..

I like the phrase ' sue me or shut up', you're right, he can't have it both ways.
Thanks I will use that line!

What the person is threatening you with is a slander suit, remember truth under a slander suit sometimes is not a defense depending on where the information you told a third party came from

that said they can not harass you either sue you or shut up but can not have both, next time you get a threatening email, voice mail etc save it then go down to your local police and file a complaint

He can sue you for slander, if you cannot prove what you have said about him is true. I would make a copy of the emails, and messages he leaves, go to the court house and file for a protective/ no contact order. If he wants to try and sue you that is fine, tell him to, these are some of the hardest things to prove in court. But regardless he doesn't have the right to keep harassing you, file something to let him know that you will not stand for his childish behavior.

Contact a lawyer and have them write up a letter that states stop harassing me or you will seek damages. It will not cost much. Do this quickly!! Now!! or make up your own letter that looks like it came from a lawyer.

Just a stupid civil suit threat.... just threaten to sue him back. It'll at best be tied up in courts for years... our litigious society is sheer idiocy.

Slander:

(Law Oral) communication of false statements injurious to a person's reputation.
A false and malicious statement or report about someone.

It's only slander if your statements are false.

File a restraining order against him! He's just talking smack. His argument won't hold up in court and it will cost him some money to take you there. He's trying to ruffle your feathers.
