A decade thinking about this question!? My god.
Haven't you had a chance to meet a blind person and ask? Everyone dreams, it is a basic function of the brain. Blind people will relate to their dreams in the same way they relate to their environment during the day. Those who have not always been blind may dream with "images" I suppose.

They dream, but only in the sense in which the information received. Much of what the dreams are about relate to the sensory data received. The easiest way to find out is to ask someone who is blind. One research study conducted to differentiate between people who were blinded during their lifetime and those who were blind their whole life found that the habits of those who regained their sight remained the same throughout their life, even though they had gained sight. Most of the time they sat in a dark room with very little stimuli. Others who had lost their vision later in life still dream, but they dream in the past and new dreams are of the past or within the confines of which are perceived in today's terms without the stimuli i.e. interaction is dreamed in real time : limited stimuli or real time : perceived stimuli.

Blind people dream but in sounds, smell sensation etc. Just the same as for example Germans dream in german, deaf people dream with no sound (assuming they have been born deaf, I have a deaf friend who went deaf in her twenties and gets really frazzled by hearing dreams that she has.) Your dreams are based on your experiences mixed with a little imagination (you don't 'see' in dreams things that you have never even seen a picture of in life. Also many blind people do not see just 'nothing', some have a small amount of vision so that would be a part of their dreams.

I think they probably dream the way they see the world. Like if they are blind but see some lights and shadows they would dream like that... plus dreams have sound so they probably have that too. Any if they were once not blind they probably dream like we do and just use the imagination the same as we.

Yes they dream, and sometimes they use computers and even visit this forum. I think what they dream depends on their experience and degree of blindness.
I read a really incredible book once that would probably inspire you, called "And There was Light" by Jacques Lusseyran, one of the heroes and a blind leader of the French Resistance during WW2. It's a gorgeous book, full of light. You're going to want to sample and savor a few pages every day to make it last.

Of course they do, they're alive, they have experiences and retain memories, and they have ideas and conversations and relationships. Just because they can't see doesn't make them unable to have dreams, they are just different from those of a sighted person. Their brains still work, they can form images in their imagination of what they believe something or someone looks like. To them there is nothing without beauty (aside from disasters and rat bastards, I mean, they have likes and dislikes just like everyone else). Have you seen the movie "Mask"? There are several scenes where "Rocky" is trying to interpret to his blind friend what colors look like. I suggest reviewing that film, that will help. That's the best I can do.

Blimey, why don't you just ask a blind person? It depends on whether the person was blind from birth or developed blindness through illness or accident. You dream with your brain not your eyes, so someone blind from birth would probably dream sounds, touch etc. Go to

for more information, or to look at volunteering in your area.

Being blind is only a physical disability that affects the eyes, which would not affect all the other brian or body functions. No reason at all why they should be different from anybody else.

yeah y not every dream has almost nothing to do with your eyes... it is all put into the brain so it is all thought. that is y people tell you to think about what you want to dream about and then u will have a greater possibility to have that dream. it doesn't mean that u will get into the REM state where u will remember it most tho.
