The best player is Kobe Bryant because he can dominate on both ends of the court. His scoring barrages this year are off the charts. Nash and Nowitzki are great offensively this season, but did not contribute much on defense. Duncan is having a good season, but cannot shoot free throws to save his life (a mere 65% this year). KG is having another great season, but like any other year, will not have a chance for a ring. Marion is great, but is always under the radar for some reason. Hence, Kobe is my pick.

I am gonna have to go with Steve Nash. Sure, he may not play the best 1 on 1 defense, but he is good at playing team defense. He is good at getting in the opponent's way and leads the league in taking charges, which equals turnovers. When he moves the ball, the opponent's whole team has to not only keep an eye on him, but to the people they are defending too.
You have to respect Nash's jumpshot. The guy has 53% fg and shooting 2nd best in the league for 3 pointers (48%). He may not be as quick as iverson, but it doesn't matter cuz if you watch most of his layups...he basically walks right in cuz nobody knows what he is gonna do. He is the best all around offensive player.

Listen we're talking about the best player in the league as much as i hate to say it....it's kobe now just listen to why. Name the suns roster stars all-through it and the mavs the same..name one other player on kobe's team besides odom that even would get playing time on the suns or mav's. I use to say kobe doesn't play defense well guess what he's a lock down guard i use to say kobe doesn't pass well look in the box score and see #24 with 5,6,7 assist. He's the best player in the league but steve nash is my MVP

Dirk..... yeah right, he's near a joke and very soft.
Nash...... there's a D at the beginning of efense, try it. (Defense)
Bryant.....for one season, try making half your shots. A fg percentage of 45% for a 6'8" player is average at best, certainly not superstar level.
Iverson.... close, but no 5'10" player will ever be the best player in the NBA.....(however, I can't criticize his fg%.... HE"S only 5'10"!!!!!!)
Shaq...... (never was the best player in the league and this year is no exception.... did have the best year once though...[2000])
LeBron..(need at least one ring and a Finals MVP, not the best yet)
Melo'......(not the best....at least he's led his squad to the postseason every year of his career....Kobe, KG, and Lebron haven't done that)
KG......(a 7'0" player that can't lead his team to the playoffs every year can't be the best player)
D-Wade.....(almost the best... pretty close, was the true regular season MVP last year......but currently, he's injured, so he's 2nd best..... for now)
******THE BEST******
TTD....(TIMOTHY THEODORE DUNCAN).....[he's also the most boring superstar in the history of sports] I honestly think he thrives on that...(He does have a Bachelor's in Psychology)

Kobe Bryant. His streak of 4 consecutive 50 point games says it all. He has an otherwise mediocre Laker team competing in the Western Conference. Kobe has learned to be team oriented but at the same time be able to completely take over the game against anybody.

Dirk-a-lirk or Steve Nash. Those guys are on great teams that need them badly if they're gone. Maybe Nash more so than Dirk. Without Nash the Suns looked lost and dropped buncha games in a row. WIthout Dirk the Mavs can still pull out victories.

Dirk Nowitzki, bouncing back from a tough loss in the finals last year and leading the Mavs to a franchise-best season. Playing great basketball and toughing out many little injuries by playing through them. Runners up are Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant.

tim duncan is boring but he is still the man inside the paint. He has to be considered the best player by far. And the Spurs are the most dangerous team going into the playoffs because of him. I'm not a Spurs fan but I wouldn't bet against them.
