Let us assume he is aware of vote for the worst and howard stern. We will also give him the benefit of the young girls going ga-ga over him, so he does have legitimate votes. Would you step down, knowing that you are not in the same league as the others or would you ride it for all it was worth? If you were to step down, when would you? Say if you actually got to the final three and could possibly see that you might actually win, would you step down to let someone with more talent than yourself win. What would you do now, and would it be different if you were his age, 16 or 17?

I actually don't care who wins, I have my favorites, he is not one of them, but they are all getting exposure and the ones that I favor will have a contract anyway.

What I WISH he would do would be to bow out now before and save himself any future embarrassment. What I WOULD do if I were him would be to ride this thing to fame and fortune as far as it would take me. Afterall, he is getting out of this exactly what he wanted. Why would he bow out?

People, if you want to get rid of Sanjaya, you HAVE to vote and vote and vote for your favorites. He has teeny bopper girls voting a million times for him. We've got to step it up and vote for anybody BUT him.

It's kind of sad really, because he seems to be clueless. Even when Simon gave the smart remark the other night about "let's try something different this week....incredible" Of course, he was being sarcastic, but Sanjaya smiled and said thank you, then as he walked off stage he said"it doesn't get any better than that". I think he has potential with a lot more practice and a voice coach to teach him how to really use and control his voice. I think It's sad that people are trying to discredit the show by voting for the worst. Oh well, like you said the best ones will end up with contracts anyway. I think Sanjaya is riding the wave and enjoying his "15 minutes of fame". Why not, I guess.

You know, The funny and very very sad part about this is that He looks like he thinks he could really sing. You can see it in his face after he finishes singing that he is actually proud of himself and everyone cheering him on is nothing to him by now. The kid does not know how to sing. I hate that this whole situation is happening on such a known TV show.
But back to basics: He is still young,17, therefore: He will take the money and run w/ it if he wins, I don't think he would step down and let someone that really does have talent step up to the plate. He looks too ignorant for that. I just hope he has the b@lls to say at the end if he does win (god forbid), that he does not know on earth how he got to win w/ that voice of his, but he should thank all the lil' ga-ga girls (as u said) for voting for him...Cuz I as hell sure didn't......

Right now, he is caught up in the glory. Do they not have access to the outside world at all? No news, no internet? I have to believe he knows what is happening. Personally, it will be his 15 minutes of fame even if he does win. Just because he may win American Idol does not mean he has any talent or will go anywhere afterwards. I read other websites hoping to throw the vote to force AI off the network. Who knows.

I know I will continue to vote for my favorites and whatever happens after AI will happen for them.

I don't care for him either, but if I were him I wouldn't step down! If people are actually stupid enough to cast their votes for him and support him even though he is nowhere near talented enough -- well, that's their problems and not Sanjaya's.

i would definitely step down now and or if i make it to the top three i would step down as well, he should have given his spot up to chris sligh long ago.....but if i were his age, i might just stick it out, he is obviously be pressured by his "fanjayas" and his family to stick it out....and they are making him think that he is good too!

I would go back to my day job and leave the singing to someone who can actually sing.
