Because we totally rock!!

Seriously, some men are intimidated by strong, successful women. I think it's because it makes them insecure of their own abilities. REAL men aren't affected in any way by a woman's success or lack thereof, they are secure in and of themselves.
Lots of men, though, have that age-old caveman way of thinking, that they should make more money and take care of wife and kids. And God forbid ever being bested by a woman in sports!

The question is a huge generalization, but there are valid aspects to it. Not ALL men are intimidated by successful women.

Perhaps the sense of intimidation comes from society's expectation that "the man" is supposed to "bring home the bacon" and support the family. This mindset doesn't necessarily work any more: women are working and supporting their families too. There are many stay-at-home dads who are helping raise children while their successful wives and/or partners have enriching careers.

No; it's just that women tend to live longer.
Just Kidding!!
Women, or men, in a position of a higher income should not be judged as being more valuable.
Unfortunately, our society puts a monetary value on everything. Money = power. A woman may not appear to be intimidated, but jealousy is another form of being intimidated.
Our problem is covetousness. Do you agree?

This is just an opinion but for myself, I like being the one who takes care of the woman in my life and keeps her from worrying about the bills and lets her relax. Her being more successful takes away that part of the relationship, and the man is no longer the Financial Knight in White Shining Armor.

Yes. In recent history a man's role was traditionally one of the breadwinner and provider. Having a woman be more successful than them at this threatens their masculinity, the way they define themselves and a source of their self-esteem.

Not all men are threatened though, obviously.

I think it has to do with the fact that traditionally men were the ones that worked and brought home the money. Now women are taking high paying jobs and can make more than their significant other.

Not really. Guys are not intimidated unless the woman is coming across as a biotch.
