Why do so many people think he would be a bad candidate? Is it because he is not white? Is it because he is Muslim? or is it because he was one of the few people in Congress willing to step over that party line and work with people to do what is best for the people and the country?

I mean how bad can it be to have an open government where we the people get to see where the money is going? What is so wrong with cleaning up all this earmarked money? Why is it so bad to have a compromise in the Iraq situation (give a deadline to pull out with a provision that if Iraq actually meets the benchmarks the GWB administration set, that deadline can be extended) I mean isn't that all just trying to get some accountablilty into our government which clearly it has been lacking and yes it has been lacking far longer than GWB has been in office...

To River and all those who can't seem to find what Obama stands for or where he stands on issues... you can visit the following sites
http://www.barackobama.com/
for his stance on the war
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/iraq/
Cleaning up washington (much overdue)
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/corruption/
Improving schools
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/education/
energy
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/education/
and homeland security
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/homeland/

There are other issues he has stands on, but I am guessing those who do not find he has a stance don't care about those....and yes they are all from his website, which can be biased, but when you are looking for a candidate's stance on issues where better to look than their website...

I don't think he is muslim, One of his parents were, but I believe he is Lutheren. And as I was told a very good selling point for Obama for president. Here is an excerpt from my question

I am eagerly watching him and listening to him to find out more. What I like so far is his experience.

I know people say he is not experienced but look at what our big problems are today

1) Dealing with the Islamic world
2) poverty
3) race relations

It can easily be said that Obama knows more about each of those three areas than any of the other candidates

I strongly agree with this person, and that is not the end of the good reasons to vote for him. there is more at the link to follow if you are curious. And I honestly believe that he deserves to be our president rather then in the last election when I had to vote for Kerry, not because I believed he should win, but because he was the lesser evil. @ least obama has been against this war from the beginning, because he said in the get-go that "I am not against wars in general, I am against a dumb war" That took alot of guts in that time and alot of brains as well. Why not? Because he doesn't have enough experience being a senator? Because senators NEVER get elected president, EVER? Because he's only running to satisfy early media attention and Democratic pandering to the black vote?

I'm black and I'm not voting for him, even though I think he's a decent person. I'm female, and I'm not voting for Hillary either. Giving Hillary the Democratic nomination will just f*ck up the election for the third time in a row.

I'm voting for the other minority Democratic candidate: Bill Richardson.

To clarify one issue, Obama is a member of the United Church of Christ. He is a Christian not a Muslim. I personally think his ideas sound very sensible and do-able. Perhaps that is the problem, we have had nonsensical politicians for a long time, maybe the American people don't know how to respond to a genuine seeker.

What does he stand for? No one seems to know. Have you noticed how he has not given any interviews and there isn't much info on his web site. He is a rock star and that is what people like about him. I just want to hear what direction someone will take this country before I decide to give them my vote.

The only thing that holds me back from supporting Obama is his age and experience level. I am not sure that he is ready to deal with the politics of Washington and am afraid that he will get ate up by the Washington beltway boys and girls. I have liked everything that I have seen about him and have see several interviews. I feel he is more in touch with people like me then any other candidate. One thing for sure this election is going to be interesting, I look forward to it. .

I want to hear what all of the candidates say before I vote for anyone. As for his faith, so much it is not against the law, we should not judge him, his race, I am not concerned about that. I want someone that follow the constitutional rights for us.
So far he has been good for the people he represents, I just want to hear what he says before I agree or disagree.

I am confused by your question and then the reasons you list. They are clearly contradictory. I don't think we know the full story about obama.

No, my beef with Obama can be found on his website. Based on the information I read, more funding is his solution to most problems. That means more confiscation of taxpayer money to provide questionable results.

first of all, he isnt muslim. he is a confessed christian. 2nd most people feel he is too inexperienced.
personally i want someone young and fresh like him (i'll vote for him), someone who isnt jaded from too many years of being in the system.

i dont think his race is riding against him, in fact i hope it helps his candidacy.

Many people are concerned with his lack of political experience, not his race or record.
