OK - her threat is an attempt to manipulate you into her convictions. Chances are, depending on the type of person she is and her credability factor with other people - she will try and follow through on it - but 9 times out of 10 - she can be proven to just be vendictive & you can tell her the next time she threatens you - "OK, go ahead, but you'll look like a fool when proven wrong" - that is if she's wrong of course. As for the bank account - thats a legal matter you will have to discuss with a lawyer. What you need to do right away is open your own account with only your name, start having all YOUR income deposited into that account and have your name removed from the joint (if you can - sometimes it cannot be done if there's already a - balance). Once you have $$ in YOUR account - get money orders made for 1/2 of all rents/utilities that are "shared responsibilites" - mail them directly to the vendors and keep your copies! This way, upon a divorce - should you decide to go that very difficult route - you have your bases covered and can prove from a legal (and moral) stand point that you were fair. This goes along way when someone trys to smear your reputation.

If you have done nothing wrong then you have nothing to worry about. As for the over drafts etc., upon divorce, all assets are tallied up and all the debt is also anything left over is split. The only way that your entitled to the overdraft is if you were legally separated at the time it was made.

I can commiserate with you. My wife refuses to explain to me where during the past 12 years, two years worth of my salary has disappeared from our "books" that she "keeps." I would have to hire an audit to determine what happened to it and I don't have the money to pay for this type of audit and she just says good luck finding anything.
She worked 40-75% time from year to year and earns about one third as much as I do. So she contributed 25% of our household annual income on average during the past 12 years.
During the processing to finance our house during the past 6 weeks I was surprised to learn that instead of having $40K in unsecured credit card debt like I was told by her the last time we discussed it a few years ago, she announced it was more like $100K and then a week later she says it is really $230K. She has provided no explanation as to why or how we went from $40K to $230K in 12 years. Nor will she tell me why she never informed me of this problem.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can get to the bottom of this?

Sunbun is right about the bank accounts, but saying false negative things about a person, especially to a judge, is called slander and is punishable by law.

You can't make her pay for the over drafts, but you can ignore her mind games with you. If she wants to play these games she has to be very in mature. The best thing you could do is stay away from her and not allow her to stress you about such petty things. Lies and such will only backfire on her.

Have a little tape recorder on you when around her..and record her.As long as one of the parties knows the conversation is being recorded, it is legal. You are one of the parties! Good luck

Well, prove that she's lying. Any way you can. Because lying to the court is a felony and she'll be put in jail!
