Okay, I dont really believe that the tissue people keep the cold virus in a labratory untill cold season, but I am curious where the cold virus goes? If panda bears died off every year they would become extinct, and zoo's everywhere would be without black and white bundles of fur. So what happens to the cold virus? Does it hibernate? Is it in the air right now? Just not potent? Please explain to someone who does not understand how things work.

(This is my first question on the site, to all the dorks, I am fully aware I can't spell, and I know I grammaticly R-tarded.)

the cold virus and flu virus mutates every year. they make another serum to fight it and there's another one the next year. also, during the winter, we're inside more so around people more and exposed to all manner of illnesses as a result.

It's cold during the winter. While cold doesn't make you sick, it does however lower your immune system's ability to fight off pathogens. Couple that with snotty children wiping their hands and noses all over everything, family gatherings and just a general disregard for hygiene, the cold virus sparks up again. Keep in mind, pathogens are "smart" and constantly adapting and mutating, just like every other creature on Earth.

Once you become immune to one form of the common cold, it mutates into something else entirely and you are no longer immune to it. This is why disease is so scary, as it could one day mutate into something that causes much more deadly symptoms.

So all in all, it doesn't actually 'go' anywhere. Just because someone isn't exhibiting symptoms of the cold, doesn't mean they don't have it and it's possible for sickness to be dormant and not show itself until a point where your immune system is weakened.
