I went to college for three years. I dropped out in 2003. My last semester i had failed a course and not did very well in the others. My semester gpa was 1.0, but that left my overall still at a 3.0 I want to go back to school but no longer live near the school i was in. What is the quickest and best way for me to finish my degree? i have about 90 credits right now. Will i lose a lot of them when i transfer to another school? What should i do to get my education started again?

You should be able to transfer most, if not all, of your original credits to a new university. Especially if both are accredited universities. I transferred universities when I had about 30 credits and all of them transferred, but there were some that didn't transfer as the same level (i.e. 200 level courses at one university that were only 100 level courses at the other).

A new university will probably require that you get a certain number of credits from them before you graduate, basically so that you couldn't go to a state university for 90% of your education then transfer to Harvard and graduate just to say that you have a Harvard education when really most of your education wouldn't have been at Harvard.

I had a semester where I only took one class and got an F, then didn't attend for about a year and a half. When I went back I had lost my ability to get financial aid because of the bad grade. I just had to go talk to my college dean and let her know that I was serious about finishing up my education and she renewed my ability to apply for federal financial aid.

Unless your original university has a lot of online classes, or a satellite campus, that would allow you to finish up without being at the original campus you'll need to transfer, so your first step will be to apply to a new university.

Try California University of Technology. A semester/term is 6 weeks and it is Distance Education only. Right now they have a scholarship program (up to 100% tuition). Call the Admissions office at 1-909-396-6090 and get details!! Good luck!
