I used to make a habit of telling everyone that Alley-cats is the best pizzaria in Taipei (Taiwan even). Over the past 2 years I've been almost a regular going every 3 or 4 weeks. The last 2 times I went though, it was pretty poor. The 4 cheese pizza I ordered today only came with mozarella, I complained then they brought my a pizza with 4x as much mozarella - what's going on? Any one else suffered the fall of Alley-cats pizzaria?

I totally agree J.S, one time I went to a Taiwanese pizzaria I found out out I had a green pizza base, I asked why and they said it was green tea flavour and that Taiwanese people like Green tea. What could I say?

I know another place that was pretty good - Mary Janes, I always prefered Alley cats but since they changed cheff and the boss doesn't seem present any more - well, it's gone down in my opinion as well as my friends and co-workers who frequently went there.

This is most sad as I really loved going to A.C!

Hi Dr. Jelly, I have never been to Alley-cats. However, the pizzas you describe really make me hungry. Care to give info on the address?

It seems that Alley-cat is not the only one suffering from this deterioration of services. I have encountered a handful of restaurants here that once offered good food, but through the years the food quality really dwindled (even the service and the restaurant upkeep became bad.) Whenever that happened, I had the suspicion that chefs/boss must have changed hands. What appalled me is that the establishment chiefs/bosses didn't seem to care for this. If I were to own a restaurant, I would never let such a thing happen.

By the way, I went to City Super yesterday. Unfortunately, they only have Arnott's Tim Tams, but no Tartlets. Drats!! A friend also took me to Breeze and Shinkong. No luck there either. Thanks for the lead anyway. My pregnant colleague will have to live without it.

I have not been to AC recently, but I found it fairly good the last time I went there. Other than AC, there is no pizza that is not majorly disappointing in the whole city of Taibei.
Thin crust. Frozen peas and corn. No fresh vegetables (like green peppers). Mayonnaise (wretch!). Sometimes almost no tomato sauce.
I am sorry, but Italians do not make good Chinese food either...

No, but I'd love to visit Taiwan. I've heard so many good things about it.

Sometimes when a restaurant becomes really popular things can start to go downhill. Maybe it is a victim of its own success. All you can do is speak to a manager.
