No. Here are some of the reasons why I am giving answers with a thumbs down:

1) The answer totally missed the question.
2) It's racist in a sense.
3) Rude

Anyway, no matter what, everybody here has their rights to do anything here. It may hurt us or not but we have to live with it.

Cheers.

Thumbs down while human beings do no longer answer the question yet flow off on a rant, or merely supply a stupid answer. for example, "Will Obama's regulations incredibly help bail out the monetary gadget?" this would be a reliable question and merits a reliable answer. If I even have my opinon and somebody else expresses a distinctive opinion, no thumbs down. If, whether, somebody responds with, " Obama is a fruitcake" then they get a thumps down.

I don't put thumbs down if I have a different opinion!
I put thumbs up if I think somebodys answer is not related to the topic or if it was a little bit rude.
lol
have a nice day!

No, not really cuz I prefer to respect other people's opinion. But I do give a thumbs down for the ff reasons:

1. Their answers are solely based on hate for the question's topic.

2. They're full of senseless bad words and merely used to insult other people. (Note: this is still hate)

3. Finally, the way they answer makes me wanna Firaga their &#^%#^$!!!

I don't rate a thumbs down for people with differing opinion from mine.. I wouldn't want to be given a thumbs down for giving a different answer.. We're all allowed to our responses..

I do give thumbs down though for answers that are not in accordance with what the Yahoo Answers community is about, mainly, answers that do not answer the question (answering just for the points), answers that are too negative - those that are overly biased or offensive or racist.

I will give thumbs up/down depending on whether the answer is factual and whether the information is correct.
If I feel an answer is correct but has been "attacked" by various trolls I will respond with a thumbs up/down dependant on the type of attack.
I will not give a thumbs up/down either because I like or dislike the person.
Unlike Well, I hope that the people I like have enough free will to vote as they see fit .
"The people I like here probably do as me"

I don't do that because people have different opinions and if I think the answer seems to have a point but is against my opinion, I just leave it be. I generally put thumbs down to answers which I think are stupid, not answering the question, promoting dating sites, and advertisements. c",)

I'll put a thumbs down if the answer is factually incorrect. I'll flag obvious spam. I'll thumbs up someone who nails the answer. After that, I let them be.

Opinions are just that, and they shouldn't be judged according to whether it's right or wrong. It also keeps me away from having to figure out if an answer is meant to be ironic or satirical.

usually, I only put thumbs-down if they are acting like a retard or if they are saying something that is unethical.. although I have to admit, if it's an issue I feel strongly about, I will give thumbs-down to someone who gives a different opinion..

for example, lets say someone writes about how Hitler was a good person and we need to follow his example.. I would give an answer like that a thumbs-down..
