Let's see. Lies got us into both wars. They were both civil wars. At the end of both wars, the only thing the citizens of the countries on either side wanted was for us to leave.

Which side do you want it from?
We were invited in by South Vietnam. It has been argued that during the Clinton years the Shite & Curds by their up rising wished we came to their aid as was hinted at by the senior Bush.
Militarially we won battles, but with the Press anti military we were unable to win the hearts of the people.
The outside agitaters were better at getting their message across that the US wish to make them a colony than we were at saying we wished to give them the right to chose their own destiny.
When we pulled out the slaughter of the locals is likely to be repeted in Iraq.
With todays press it is unlikely that the US will ever win another war. 1) We don't declare war we initiate Police actions. This only guarantees a stalemate. 2)The US is so strong it becomes a paper tiger, because it looks like a bully to the rest of the world.

Mostly a repeating of history on the political front. The Democrats portraying defeat into polls for votes, now cutting funds to leave the military up in the air to appease their political base fore the election.
Homegrown shows a good example of the political similarity with the link of a far left political generated article to advance a similar mentality of the 60's anti war groups.

some factors. the belief of a wounded god, a god that died as a ransom sacrifice and replaced into then raised from the lifeless, those variety of motifs, additionally the virgin start, predate xtianity and can be contemporary in many cults, like Osiris for occasion. lots of the truthfully phrases ascribed to Jesus may be contemporary in hymns of Horus. The sermon on the mount and the beatitudes are all copied immediately from the Essene preacher of righteousness. there is not any longer lots of originality in xtianity.

The similarities?Liberal denial of the enemy.Lack of objective media coverage.Lack of support for the military from the left.uninformed Hollywood blowhards. The same can be said of WWII. We actually won the Iraq war. What we are fighting now is an insurgency(a seperate war)that is supplied by syria and iran to prevent our march through tehran.Vietnam was fought against the viet cong who were fighting for their homeland. They used the terrain to fight us.The insurgency in iraq kill indiscriminately.God Bless

Sorry but I don't see it as such.
Iraq has a strategic purpose, but it is not a nexus for chinese influx of influence and weapons.
Vietnam had soldiers there and a french induced US presence, iraq had an army which we directly opposed.
The terrain is different.
Iraq had a physical justification of wmd ( real or not),
Vietnam had the ominous domino theory.
There are enough general topics that you can use wiki to follow up.

Vietnam was a military victory which was turned into a total defeat due to political bickering and a Dem congress trying to put one up on the Rep president. In this they indeed are similar.
If the US abandons it's friends in their hour of need- that also will be a similarity

To win at war, you must let the military do their jobs without interference. This is not the case in Iraq, nor was it the case in Viet Nam. Politicians cannot be allowed to try and play soldier again!

We're essentially attempting to referee a civil war, as we were in Vietnam. There's no clear mission, no end in sight, a mounting casualty list, all of which the administration attempts to justify with alarmist scare tactics.

There are no political similarities between the two. The military similarities would be American Soldiers and Marines have died in both wars.
