If the elected representatives of the Florida voters decided to allow automatic re-instatement of voting rights to ex-convicts, that is well within their rights to do so.

I've long believed that if a felon has truly served his or her time, they should have their full rights reinstated, including the right to bear arms for self defense.

I also believe that if a released convict is still considered dangerous, then they should never have been released. People who are considered a danger to the public should never get out of prison.

Why not? They did their time. FL is one of only 3 states that did not automatically reinstate the civil rights of ex felons.
Violent ex-felons will still have to go in front of a board to reinstate their rights.
