The AMOUNT of money doesn't tell anything about the numbers of people "surging" -- though the number of donors that suggests that.
Obama has had more than 100,000 people give him money.
That's telling.
What shows that a majority of Americans favor Democrats are the polls that show that disapproval of Republicans is up; approval of Democrats is up.

I think that it is to early to tell. The democrats have raised a lot of money though. Does it in any way correlate to a Republican being in the White House? If a Democrat was in the White House would the Republicans be making the hard press to get more money?

As much as I would like to say that America is surging toward the Democratic party, I think it is still too early to tell. There is still 19 months till the election. There may still be more candidates before it's all said and done on both sides.

Too early to tell. Hillary has 10 miilion left over from her Senate race, and, had in place a fund raising machine on her senate staff (10 direct marketers, as an example), months before she announced. Once the process starts in full, you'll see the anty up on the Republican side of things.

too early to tell.
many republicans are dissatisfied with the party and their candidate options. thus they aren't ready to break out the checkbooks.
dems on the other hand have been energized lately and their options are a bit better. (i'm not saying that the dem candidates are better than the republican candidates, i'm just saying the dems like their candidates more than republicans like their candidates.)
once it gets closer to the primaries and especially after the primaries i'm sure the republicans will catch up and surpass the dems in campaign contributions.

Although I am hopefully optimistic about the "change in tide," I think it is too early to tell the outcome of these early numbers. As we learned on 9/11, one day can transform the landscape our our lives.
If anything, I hope the early attention will awaken the masses to the importance of politics to the average Americans' life!

No. really shows Republicans have no one to focus on - the religious right has no use for a Mormon and the rest are either adulterers, divorces or soon to be dementia patients.
Not much of a field to choose from.
