I'm on birth control pills.... things were heated between my boyfriend and I, and we couldn't help ourselves. We had sex without a condom. I'm supposed to have my period in two weeks. And I heard that being sick affects how the pills work.... I had been sick the week before it happened. What are the odds of me getting pregnant?
What can I do?
Am I stuck waiting?

Taking antibiotics will definately lower the chances that your birth control will work. The doctor always suggest and it says on the bottle that it may lower the effectiveness of birth control. It is possible that you could be preganant, because you also had unprotected sex 2 weeks before your period and normally 2 weeks before your period is when you are ovulating and at the highest point of possibly getting pregnant. Just wait and see if you start or go get First Response 4 days before you are supposed to start, and if you don't get it go see the doctor. If you do get it, you need to be safer next time if you aren't prepared to have a baby. Good Luck!

Sorry sweetie, but you're stuck waiting. If you don't want to have a child, I think it is too late for you to get the morning after pill, plus since you are already on birth control, I'm not sure how that will work. If you end up being pregnant, consider all the options.

Chances are you are probobly not pregnant. The best thing for you to do now is to not think about it and relax. Even when you are on the pill, severe stress (such as am I pregnant?) can cause you to miss periods or delay them. And that will probobly cause you more stress and nerves. Just wait it out. And use a condom next time!

Certain antibiotics can affect the effectiveness of the Pill. Did you tell your doctor or pharmacist you're on the Pill when you got the antibiotics? It's generally best to use a back-up method while on them, anyway, and for the rest of that cycle.

Unfortunately, there's no way to know until closer to when your period is supposed to start, when you can take a home pregnancy test. Hope everything turns out OK.

Well if you take antibiotics the pill is not but about 25% affective so you could be. On the other hand if you are stressed out you period could be late. I got pregnant both times on the pill so you can never be to careful. Don't worry until you need to worry and things will work out the way they are suppose to.

it is not being sick that affects the pill it is certain antibiotics that reduce the strength of the pill. If this is the case then you could be, but if you were just sick then I wouldn't worry too much just wait until the time come and check, but if you were sick you could be a couple days late.

"we couldn't help ourselves" isn't a good reason to not use a condom...of course, I'm sure you're already telling yourself that.

Birth Control Pills are actually pretty effective. Only about 5 out of 100 women get pregnant while taking "The Pill"
You could call your Doctor and ask about Emergency Contraceptive...so you don't have to wait and worry.

All you can do right now is wait to see if your period comes or not, and if not than take a home pregnancy test. Remember though, if you get two lines and the second one is faint, its still a positive. Good luck!!
