My boyfriend and I were intimate Saturday evening. I missed my period yesterday and still have not had it today. I have never been late before so this is very unusual for me. Would it be too early to take a pregnancy test? I've been dizzy and nauseated for the past two days. My best friend told me it is impossible for me to be pregnant that soon and even if I am I won't have any symptoms this early. Is she right?

I may not be married, but we've been together for 5 years and are engaged. No more rude answers please!

Run out to the chemist and get some self-exam pregnancy kits and while you're there, pick up some prophilactics. You might just be feeling that way because your period is going to be late, and when that happens, it usually comes with "a vengeance" and the PMS symptoms are a bit more uncomfortable than they usually are when you're regular.
For the love of Mike, don't participate in unprotected or risky sexual activity. Married or not, engaged or not, do what ever the hell you want, just do it responsibly, don't risk catching something or bringing a child into this world at the wrong time.
Sorry it's not what you want to hear, but it's better to be prepared to be a parent if you can, that's all I meant.

Usually, it takes between 12-16 days from fertilization until implantation, and in most women, hormone levels aren't high enough until then to show physical symptoms of pregnancy or to have an accurate read on a pregnancy test. However, the symptoms you're describing (especially an atypical late period) are common early pregnancy symptoms, and if you were intimate at any point prior to this past Saturday evening, it could have happened sooner. Go ahead and take an early test. They're affordable and incredibly accurate, and you'll have that peace of mind.
One thing to note - while false positives are extremely rare (the test won't claim you're pg unless you actually do have that pregnancy hormone in your urine) it is possible for an extra early test to give a false negative (it could claim you aren't pg even though you are, just because not enough time has passed for the hormone to be in high enough levels to show up). So if you take one today and it's negative, but your period doesn't arrive in the next few days, take a second test to be sure.

If you were not intimate before Saturday I doubt you're pregnant. Sometimes your period can change. Although, as the girl said above... anything can happen. So it could be possible. Just wait a few more days to see if you get your period. If you don't then go ahead and buy a pregnancy test. Goodluck.

Being intimate on Saturday could have got you pregnant. Your friend is wrong... that is not impossible. My wife is 5 months pregnant and she started getting some symptoms within 6 days. She got pregnant the first time we were intimate, 5 months ago after our wedding. Every woman is different so no one can really answer you correct. Good luck to you and ignore that rude guy's answer. Everyone has different beliefs and it doesn't make you wrong.

If you are pregnant, you did'nt get pregnant saturday, you got pregnant the last time before saturday when you and your boyfriend were intimate. You should go to the drugstore and purchase a pregnancy test and take it and see what it says. If negative and still no period, you should go to your doctors for a blood pregnancy test. Good luck!!

If your period is already late, it is fine to take a test. I doubt sex on Saturday got you pregnant since it was too close to when your period was supposed to start.
