We have an albino catfish in our tank. He's kind of old. He's been acting dead since last night. But, everytime we touch him with the net, he swims away, lays back on his side, or upside down. Should we go ahead and flush him, or give him a chance and see if he can make it through whatever is wrong with him?
We did have some fish get sick and die. But we treated the tank with the proper stuff. So there is nothing else we can do in that way.

OMG! I had the same problem about a month ago with our fan-tailed fish. He got stuck in our filter, and we thought he was dead. It had tore a part of his tail off and he couldn't swim very well. We would sprinkle fish food in the aquarium and it would have to float towards it. When it came to it though, he would swallow it and swim down to the bottom of the aquarium. After a while, he would float back up to the top, belly up. I know it stinks, but I flushed him because I dreaded the thought of him suffereing. I think you should try it too. It would be better for the fish.

Sounds like he's suffering to me.
Flushing is not an appropriate way to kill a fish at all. Its a very cruel way to kill a fish.
The most humane way involves about 5-10 drops of clove oil (from GNC) shook up in water to knock them out, and then 10 minutes in vodka or ice water to kill them.
Even throwing him into ice water or vodka water, with the shock (and without the clove oil) is way more humane than flushing.

Flushing a fish is pure evil, unless they are dead. The kindest way to kill a fish would be to drop it into a cup of club soda. It kills them instantly. I think you should give your catfish a chance. He is obviously alive, since he swims away when you try to net him.

It doesn't sound like he's going to make it. I'd suggest flushing him. If he is sick, flushing him is probably the best thing you can do to help the other fish stay healthy.

Personally I would give him a little more time. Flushing him down the toilet while still alive is very cruel and he will be no better of if you do that anyway.

Flushing a living creature is one of the most cruel things you can do. If you feel you must euthanize him then check this site out for a humane way. http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-most-humane-way-to-euthanize-a-fish.htm
If it doesn't look like it is suffering though then just let it be.

If you've given up on treating the fish you should remove it from thetank and humanely euthanize him to prevent suffering and to prevent the spread of the disease.
