The idiots at Mandalay Bay charged me twice for the same reservations. I called and they were supposed to take it off. They did - BOTH OF THEM! Now, I have to rebook these rooms again.

My question is: Is it better to wait closer to the arrival date to book rooms? I've heard this from a few people. But I don't want to get stuck in a situation where there's no rooms available.

What do you think?

Always - always - always book your rooms as far in advance as possible, and book them through the hotel. You can use the online sites to check rates and compare them to the hotel web sites, but always book through the hotel. This way you can continue to look for a better rate all the way up until you leave for vacation. If/when you find a better rate you can always cancel the first reservation and make another.

LV room rates move up and down based on the projected occupancy. If they start selling more rooms, the rate goes up, if sales are lagging then rates will fall. LV hotels have this down to a science.

When I make a reservation I take down the confirmation # along with the time I called and the reservation agents name.
This way they know for a fact you are not just blowing smoke whey you call and tell them they screwed up. >it does not happen very often but, it just happened to me today< I called to change a reservation from May 24th for four nights to June 14th for four nights. I called back later and told the reservation agent that I needed to change my reservation from the 14th to the 15th for 4 nights. He says I have you coming in on May 24th. This was when I told him that I had spoken to XXXX at 10am. This way they know they made the mistake and not you.

There is absolutely no advantage in waiting to reserve a room. Hold your room at a good rate then keep looking for a better one. If you wait the room rates might go through the roof.

I would suggest to book in advance so that you dont run out of rooms..but you need to choose the right place..you could read some reviews abt the hotel on net..

its better to book a room or place to stay ahead of time.. because alot of the times we book out our hotels on certain weekends because there is always so much going on here....
