why do we face shame, guilt and worry? well, this is rather big for a question. You should be more specific. There are many many reasons as to why we feel these emotions. An example is guilt: during 9/11, many firefighters experienced what is called "the survivor's guilt," This is to describe a behavior many survivors will experience after the disaster and when they hear some of their friends, co workers, family membes, or strangers did not make it. It is believed that in order to protect oneself from the too painful shock that this reality means: "I made it. My child did not" type of thing we will unconsciously accuse ourselves for surviving. Because things were out of control, we did not control the situation = reality of today. i am alive. he is not... we will try to take back this control by accusing ourselves. idid not do what i was supposed to do. if i did, my child would be alive... we believe that in taking control of a situation we are taking control of the pain.
