My male betta fish had been secretly eating his plastic fake plant in his tank. Is this harmful to him?

My male betta fish has been secretly nibbling on his fake plastic plant in his tank. I didnt actually see him eat it...i can just see the bite marks. Is this something i should be worried about?!? thanx

I doubt that he is really eating it, his mouth is a bit tender to chew plastic. He is probably picking bits of algae or small critters off the plant.

As long as he's not actually eating it, he's fine. I honestly think they get bored and do things to entertain themselves sometimes.

Mine has a silk plant in his tank. He loves to peck at the edges and fray the leaves till the whole thing looks terrible.

BTW, be careful there aren't any sharp edges on the plastic where the betta can catch his fins!

Yes it could be. Remove the plant right away.
