I've only used the Pill. I've been on it for almost 4 years & haven't had to switch. I've been using Triphasil-28 (or Trivora which is the generic) & have had NO problems whatsoever with it. I've heard NOTHING good about the Patch. My sister is using the Nuvaring & loves it. (She's had to try so many methods!) I've had friends on the Depo-Provera shot & they've raved about how well it works. I'd loooove to get on Depo but one side effect of it is weight gain. I weigh enough already (not TOO much but still) & wanna LOSE weight so that one wouldn't be a good option for me. =o(
Every form of BC works different on every female because we're all different. You can tell just by reading all the responses. One form may work for one woman but cause problems in another & so on....although I saw one who's using the same pill as me & also had a positive remark about it. The best thing to do is talk to your ob/gyn & figure out what would be the best method for you.....and yes, with some women it takes trying quite a few to see which one DOES work well for you. ;-)

I used Seasonale when it first came out. I hated it.
I've been on Ortho Tricyclen and Ortho Tricyclen Lo. LOVE both of them. I prefer the Lo, because it's a lower hormone dose. But, I also liked the Ortho Tricyclen because it had acne medication in it as well. Both help with the cramping and shortened my period.
My sister uses the patch, but she gets a rash from it.
I've gone off the pill and used the condoms, the spermicide, the sponge, the film etc. But I don't like the mess. And I also hated the "Oh! wait a second honey, I got to insert something first."
Good luck!

I have an implanon, it's progesterone only so there's less side effects (and I can't take oestrogen), you get it put in by a doctor, there's a check up at 3 months then you can leave it for 3 years. I love that I don't have to worry about taking pills at certain times, they can't split and there's none of the fuss you get with diaphrams and stuff. Also, unlike depo, if you take any bad side effects they can remove it and the chemical will be out of your system really quickly.
Edited to add that my periods are now lighter (barely spots) and only last for a couple days at a time.

I have had the Merena (sp?) IUD for about 3 years now and it has been great. Not only do I not have to worry about pills or shots, but my periods which were very heavy before are now short and extremely light. I have had no negative side effects. It is not recommended for women who think they may want a child in the near future because it lasts for 5 years. For a woman who's sure she does not want to conceive any time soon it's perfect. Here's a link if you're interested.

I HATED Depo... avoid it! It makes you gain weight like crazy, messes up you cycle (you may not have a period at all, or you may bleed for months straight), reduces your bone density, and can severely affect your moods.
I found the low dose pills to be the easiest form of the pill for me. I had the least amount of side effects, and it still worked. You have to deal with the hassles of a pill, but that is easier than kids.... It was the best choice for me before I had the IUC.
I am on the IUC Mirena right now. It is my favorite by far. You have to have had a child first, so I don't know if this applies to you, though.

I take a low-estrogen, second-generation pill. It's never been a problem for me to remember because I always take a vitamin at night and it's just part of my nighttime routine - I've never ever forgotten. Plus it's really helped my periods, they're very light and hardly any cramping anymore.
I'll probably stay with this until we're ready for a permanent solution.

I have been on Yasmin and love it! I tried Depo and literally had my period for 3 months starit twice a year...really sucked. I was also on the patch, but I was so nervous about it that I lost sleep and was a total wreck! I felt like a band-aid couldn't prevent me from getting pregnant. I love Yasmin and it has become part of my schedule. I also take it because i have a blood issue, and yasmin doesn't have as high estrogen doses, so I'm less moody, less cramps and my period is not more than 5 days.

I can't say I have a favorite. I hate them all because they have side effects or possible side effects, weight gain, blood clot, dizziness, diarrhea etc. I have not taken Seasonale, but have heard that its cool because you only take it so often and don't have many periods. I am currently on the Yaz, and the only reason I am still on it is because I haven't met with my doctor for another option. The Yaz is okay because it lessens the period time frame and amount. I think the patch they are saying is definitely a high risk for cancer and blood clot, I would not recommend it. I think I am going to try the NuvaRing next but again has big side effects like the blood clots etc esp. if you smoke- but I'm lucky I don't.

I have taken many different kinds of "the pill". I hate trying to remember to take it everyday.
I did the patch, but I hated having it stuck to my butt, lol.
I am now on the Nuva Ring and so far it is my favorite. You put a new one in once a month. After 3 weeks you take it out and within a day or two you will have your period. I haven't had any side effects.
