By a long way, the highest batting average is the Don's at 99.94. Bradman scored an amazing 6,996 in just 80 innings with 10 not outs between 1928 and 1948. This included 13 half-centuries, 17 centuries, 10 double-centuries and 2 triple-centuries, with a highest score of 334, which for a long time was the highest individual Test innings.

The next highest average* belongs to Robert Pollock (RSA) with 2,256 runs at 60.97. The highest average of players active today is the Australian captain Ricky Ponting's which currently stands at 59.29 (with 9,368).

Sir Don Bradman of Australia is a dream for every cricketer of the world. His 6996 runs in 80 innings with 10 times not out is a dream never come true for all the cricketers for many decades and i believe it will not be possible in modern day cricket any more. If the great batsman would not have been out for a duck in his last test and would have hit a four it will be a perfect 100 runs per innings. He said his eyes were full of tears with the thought of leaving the cricketing arena and he could not see the ball and was bowled.
