my boyfriend is leaving for school in August, he will be gone for 4 years and will be across the US in NC while i am back home in CA. july will be our 2 years together. my problem is my boyrfriend does not like to talk about what is going to happen, he always trys to avoid the subject when i try to talk to him about school and what is going to happen. last year around march we had broken up for a short while becuase of the same topic, but originally he was supposed to go to san diego this past fall but had a change of plans. should i be expecting a break up in a few months? or what do u think i should do? i mean our relationship is not on rocks or anything, we arent having any problems. its just he closes up when it comes to talking about him leaving, but it doesnt help that he doesnt like to show emotion very much either... is there anyone who is going through or has gone through the same thing that can help me out?

He doesn't want to talk about it because he know what is likely to happen. Long distance relationships between high school sweethearts almost never last the first year apart. Both of you will be changing greatly over the next few years, temptations will be great for both parties...it's just a question of who breaks who's heart.

most chances are that he will forget you during this time. remember: "out of sight is out of mind" for most people. Another thing: no one can say what will hapen the next day, so better forget that you can know what is going to happen after four years. maybe your boy friend knows this thats why he doesnt talk about it.

I personally think he doesn't want to talk about it because he plans on having fun while he is in college...meaning parties and girls most likely. He doesn't want to tell you that it probably won't work out, and you will end up breaking up...

I amj afraid you will have to work out your own solution. No two persons or situations are the same.
