You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink....Geniuses can act pretty dumb when in love, chances are your friend is not thinking clearly, his emotions are doing that for him, but even then, all you can do is that he owes her and himself to take the time to think carefully about a life changing decision. Tell him to allow himself time to get it right, good things come to those who wait, and his relationship still needs to grow a little more before it can bloom into the next face....in other words, let it play out a bit longer.

don't worry. if he's only paying $200 for an engagement ring, he's only hurting himself. it must be for his mom. but why should you suspect she might hurt him at this point anymore than he could end up hurting her. it sounds like you probably have stronger feelings than you're letting on. i'm not sure where the question of "should you trust him" even comes into this.

It doesn't matter whether your friend chooses to marry this girl or not, it's his choice. Just be there as his friend. That's what matters most.

If he wants to rush, then he will, and if you are his friend you will be there to help him if he needs it, you never know she might be the best thing for him.

its his life, let him live it. And yes you will pick up the pieces, but isn't that what friends are for and wouldn't you want your friend to do the same.
