That is a standard line of crap that all CEOs feel obligated to say in an attempt to make the employees feel better about the CEO getting paid about a thousand times more than they are.

In reality, employees are usually treated like overhead. Used like light bulbs until they are burned out and then replaced.

It takes land, labor, capital and management to make a company go. Without any of these elements it's dead and there is no profit possible.

It's a motivational technique, and a way to "pay" employees emotionally. Money is not the only motivator, and in fact is one of the least effective over the long term. People will bust their butts to help a leader who they believe values their efforts. A smart CEO knows this and uses this knowledge.
