Easter has always been about family for us we are not a church going family but Ido believe in God , Easter sure has gotten so commercialized now so I guess that is why it is more about family getting together and sharing our love for each other . But it seems to me that every year the silly old Easter bunny shows up with his basket of treats

It's the celebration of life in full blossom.
It's an ancient pagan holiday, the feast day for the goddess Eastre (in all her various names). Her symbol is also the moon, in which some cultures see a rabbit instead of a face. Eggs also symbolize the moon and are the ultimate symbol of creation and new life. The basket is a symbol of the womb in which this new life is carried.
Every pagan holiday celebrates a phase of the life cycle. This one in the Spring is for life in bloom, the abundance, the hope and promise of continuation. Yay Easter!

Easter is the season of renewed life. In English, it is named for the Saxon goddess "Oestre".
Christianity absorbed its version of Easter from the worshippers of Attis and Cybele, a religion based in Phrygia, now Turkey. Attis was born on December 25, crucified, buried in a tomb sealed with a stone, and rose again after three days to cries of "He is risen!", on Easter morning.
This old religion's holy days were apparently still being observed by the Galatians, since Paul's epistle specifically refers with disapproval to their keeping days (Gal. 4:10). Galatia was in Phrygia.
An even older religion is the worship of Isis and Osiris, in Egypt. Osiris was remembered as the corn of wheat which, if it fall into the ground and die, is resurrected and gives eternal life to the devotees who partake of the sacred meal of bread and wine. Many excavated Egyptian tombs are found to contain wheat, a recognition of the symbol of death and resurrection and eternal life. To this day, the major Christian religions require that the consecrated host be made from wheat. Ancient Greek vases too are illustrated with representations of the Mass, showing that the worshippers of Dionysus maintained the same custom later emulated by Christianity.
As a fertility festival, Easter Sunday is a day for people to dress up in their most attractive garments. The sex hormone of a fertile woman, estrogen, is named for Easter, and the egg, a symbol of fertility, is an ancient Easter symbol - and let's not forget what rabbits represent.
Easter is the season of renewal of life, a beautiful springtime festival with many thousands of years of history. Celebrate it in your own chosen way this springtime. Pick a flower and put it in your house. Smile at a stranger today. Happy Easter!

Easter? Sure you don't mean Ostara? A time of fertility rites, sex magic and such.
Oh wait! Easter yeah, that is the time that the Christians celebrate the guy that was crucified for being a sorcerer, with a thief crucified on either side of him.
