it is the most "offensive" thing on this website! it is a weapon for trolls and reporters to harass us with and Y! allows this harassment to continue while punishing everyone else for not conforming to their "guidelines". i will fight back until either the button or i are deleted for good!

Why would reporting others for not breaking the rule gives a sense of pride? I am sure nobody is as lame as that. So far, the only time I've reported somebody is when I see a link leading to porn sites. If I want to have a sense of hope and pride, all I have to do is to give a thumbs down rating to people's answer. Don't have to waste my time making bad report.

it must do precisely that for some people. take for example the girl who responded to this very question with "i use it when someone says something that really pisses me off" or something to that effect. that is not not the purpose of the button. pissing you off is not a violation of the terms. placing advertising where a response is supposed to be is a violation. abusive language is a violation. having an idea that is different than the norm--not a violation. asking a race-related question--not a violation. answering with common sense--not a violation. hurting somebody's feelings--not a violation. but many people seem to report everything that they personally don't like or agree with. i was once reported for "mentioning bodily fluids" after answering "how can i make my eyes look bigger?" with "get someone to punch you in them. they will swell and look bigger. with all the bruising, you won't even need eyeshadow." was it a smart-@ss answer? sure. but a violation? no. not really. but it was turned into one because she obviously just didn't like what i had to say.

Remember our childhood? When somebody touched you, told you something you did not like, took your chocolate? What did you do?
Mother ! Mother !
The only way out. We did not fight, we did not try to take our chocolate back...we wanted somebody else to do it for us.
We were weak, felt hopeless, lost in a new big world....we wanted to be protected by someone strong !!!!
And then we had to learn how to fight back.
We are not kids anymore.
We are responsible for our actions.
We know, that there are people thinking and acting in the ways, we do not like. But we have to accept the fact.
Unfortunately - there are still "kids" around awaiting their mum to fight their fights.
And in Y! case their mother is The Mighty Button.
Please ignore them.
They are contacting a brainless machine programmed to accept certain words as an alarm. Y! people never read our q/a. They do not bother to answer, because machine is doing it.

To me this button is like the red phone in the Oval Office at the White House. Only to be used in situations of national security.

To date I have only seen one answer that drove me to the edge, most of them I can ignore and chalk up to the ramblings of the juvenile that posted it.

I only report when people spam. That is just beyond annoying. However, I don't report people who piss me off. It's called freedom of speech. They can say whatever they please. I may be offended but I think a right to free speech is important.

I would think it should be used to alert for pedophilia, child abuse and porn links. That is what would cause me to flag a question. Interesting answers to your question. I wonder will it ever get Yahoo's attention?
