I do not want to shock my children with all the bible details. i grew up scared of everything, and afraid I was going to be punished all the time. Is it wrong to want to "protect" them?

Christmas is Santa Claus and Easter is the Bunny. Jesus would have approved if it makes children happy.

I told my children that Easter is when Jesus comes out of his cave and if he sees his shadow and runs back in, they get to have an egg hunt.

You can celebrate Easter without any religious tones. Teach your children of the origins of the actual celebration - pagan celebrations of the return of spring, etc.

no, I intend to protect mine from that stuff as long as possible, easter eggs and the bunny are good fun rituals for kids, they are pure and good, don't need to know about blood and sacrifice and punishment and evil...I'm sorry you went through that.

I just let my kids believe what they want. I kinda grew up like you, but I learned to have my own beliefs. I would never push anything on them. They have a right to learn on their own and not to be influenced by me or my beliefs. If they have a question, I answer it to the best of my ability, otherwise, they on their own.

They don't need to know everything right off! I wouldn't suggest sitting down a 3 year old and telling them about how Jesus died but, you can tell them that he was the son of God and that he came to teach us. Tell them that when he died God saw fit to bring him back. Just give them enough to show them the importance of the holiday from a Christian point of view.

um you should teach them because that is the whole meaning of easter and holy week. god is not ment to be feared. he is a loving giving protecting god and he will forgive those who do wrong not punish them unless they arent even sorry. there is nothing to fear of god. teach them how wonderful he is. if you fear god you dont have faith in him. gods watching and works in misterious ways.

My kids know that Jesus is a dead guy on a stick.
They know their grandparents (on my side... on their mother's side they're not Christians) worship him.
