Additionally, the point is monetary damages are, in civil law, meant to put the plaintiff back in the position he was in before the cause of action occurred. Granted, all plaintiffs in a slavery case are now dead. Long dead. But granting alleged descendants mega-$$$ AND allowing them to stay here seems to give them two bites at the apple. If we are take the idea of reparations seriously, why shouldn't it include repatriation?

Slave reparations is a ridiculous idea since most of the U.S. population have emigrated to the States decades after the end of slavery, and there are no living slaves or slave owners in the 21st century.
There is a real vindictive attitude in those who are pushing slave reparations since it would only punish the innocent to atone for the guilty.
There were less than a 1,000 slave owning families down south, Massachusetts ended slavery in 1755, so exactly who are these slave reparation activists blaming for slavery today in the 21st century?

Are you serious? Wow..I hope that this is not something you came up with cuz if so, wow. A one way trip back to Africa? Wow. 1st of all I do not neccessarily think that reparations should be paid, but even if they were...blacks were forced to come to America & so now that they/we have been here for years and years you say if America pays then send them back?!? How crazy! 2nd - American Indians are the true "Native Americans" so maybe they should send people of european descent back to Europe..how does that sound? Do you like that idea?
I cannot believe that people today would still have such racist comments and thoughts, why do we not know how to live together yet? Lets face it...America is a country that is racially diverse and that is a GOOD thing, why woudl anyone want to change what we are?

Abraham Lincoln instituted such a program by trying to send slaves first to Mexico and then to the country of Liberia, Africa. Mexico, flat out said--NO! Lincoln, however managed to send 1000 slaves to the Island of Hispanola. These slaves died out as a result!
No, I would not support this idea! Eventually, this would only lead to everyone being shipped back regardless of race, color or creed. Can you imagine?

I was born here in America and have been living my life as an American. True enough, white America enslaved us and forced us to work for them, and then once slavery was declared over, white America still made it hard for a Black person to try to better themselves and give us an EQUAL WAY OF LIFE - and it still goes on today, now, the present. There are times when, yes, I believe Blacks should receive monetary funds for what our ancestors had to go through, what my mom and dad had to go through and what I'm experiencing now from white America. America makes it so easy for foreigners to come here and open a business, offer medical services for free, give loans more freely, etc. No, I don't want a one-way ticket to Africa. You go in my stead.
Addition comments:
I'm sure a lot of whites reading my comments don't believe that there is racism here in the good ol U S of A - and you're wrong. Even my white friends don't think that we are treated unfairly - but if you could become Black for even 1 month - it would open your eyes. You choose not to believe. I live it, see it, feel it. It's very much alive - some things have changed and alot is still the same as 250 years ago.

No and no.
Turns out, I guess, that my teachers were wrong. There ARE dumb questions after all. There are no reparations anyway, so why do you ask? The intention behind this question appears rather shady. You looking to see if someone here will conjure up the "R" word or something?
