my trunk wont shut. i have a 2004 cavalier. theres nothing blocking it from shutting but it looks like latch its supposed to secure to is out of reach for some reason. any ideas on how to go about fixing this?

The latch mechanism on the lid rolled shut.
Use a screw driver or something to roll it back open.
(key turned)

ADDED:
You probably kept slamming the trunk lid and push the latch anchor back some.
Loosen the bolts and slide it back in place.

exactly. latch flipped over. use the flat blade screw driver and convince it to come back the other way. this happens to door latches too sometimes.

you will have to loosen the latch bolts and move the latch until it closes.
