Yes I believe it does but not in the standard way as in Linda in spanish means pretty. Numerically each letter stands for a number L-I-N-D-A corresponds to the numbers 3-9-5-4-1 which equal 22 broken down to a phadic digit equals 4. Which is the number of structure and/or retriction, rules, etc. So the person with this name (i would need the middle and last names also, plus b-day, time of birth, place of birth) would be responsible, but because they are built on a 3 (the L) would also be creative, and ending on A would make them dependable yet self centered. But like I said I would need a lot more than just the first name to really tell you about a person.

Some names has a particular meaning, I don't know ones in English but here in Egypt for instance: Sherif (A Male Name) means an honest person, Hanan (A Female Name) means tenderness and so on...
So basically names are just forms that our parents liked or something and then they names us regarding these names.
They have nothing to do with our personality, cause for example if you were named Sherif, that doesn't mean that when you grow up you'll turn out to be such a great honest and amazing person, you might be a serial killer instead! LOL
Or anything generally speaking I'm just giving a simple example. You turn out to be what you are based on what you were raised upon, and your morals, ethics and also your way of thinking. You behave in a certain way which has nothing related to your name, why? Cause this is just simply YOU!

I feel that a person's name is possibly the most important representation of who they are or who they become.....yet most people have a vague idea what their own means.
A name is like a label or a word that we identify ourselves with. Names can also sound aggressive or sharp (Ace, Hitler) or passive (Teresa, Serene) - Therefore i feel that it does affect our personality when we know the true meaning of our names.
Moreover, it could represent our religion (Ali = Muslim, Noah = Catholic or Christian) or our ethnicity (Ravi = Indian, Ayomi = Japanese).
While you are born as a man or as a woman, you do not automatically behave or act as a man or woman. One develops and becomes a man or a woman. Similarly, i feel that one will be his or her name.
Often, parents name their kids after famous people, celebrities, world leaders etc... in hope that they will become or have traits of the person they admire.
Since our name something we have to response to every time it is called. Don't you think it is important that we are comfortable with them in the first place and know the true meaning of it so that we can become who we are supposed to be in the first place.
My name means - Helper and Protector of mankind and humanity. It is only in recent years that i found out the true meaning of my name. It has given me my purpose and has now became the core of my being and now i live everyday mindful that i strive to be the best of who i am.

A name is a name. These names come from many countries, languages and have interesting meanings in regard to origin, but in no way affect personality - otherwise .. all johns would be "johns" and all "barrys" barrys .... which is a terrible thought ... for example.

I think anything can alter the personality of one who has not developed their mind. I am definitely one who has not yet developed his mind because my name in our modern society could not be any lamer. I still think of cool names to call myself when talking to women. I guess I am not completely ashamed of my name because while I may entertain the thought of using a cool alias I never have, I always introduce myself as (think of a name that may have been popular in 18th century England), yea, it is that lame.

today most people use names just to recognize people with, e.g. its easier to call some one by a name than to walk up to them and tap them on the shoulder.
however the red Indians and the ancient people of Europe named people based on their characteristics, so you would probably have a different name as a childhood and when you grow up, based on your intellect or courage what ever describes you best, they would name you that. i personally think its better for peoples names to describe them than just to recognize them, because that way when you meet someone you know what they are like or have done based on their names. it just makes it more interesting.

That depends. In the U.S., for example, a name is interchageable with any other name. In China, for example, names are far more meaningful and influential. Name selection for newborns is serious business over there.
