I was working in Wessex Water HQ as a draughtsman, strangest, most surreal working day of my life. Slowly the rumour spread of what had happened, the computer system crashed as so many were trying to look at the net to see what had happened. Eventually they set up a Tv in a lecture room so people could see. Very little was done after that point, the whole place, of which employed a good 300 + people, was in shock.
A very sad day for human kind.

I was in an English class. I came home from secondary school and mum and dad had the TV on in the front room and we just sat there for hours watching the news.
It scared me, i think i was about 15/16 at the time. I suddenly realised that there was more going on in the world than I knew, and that it wasnt all just natural disasters to be forgotten in a heartbeat etc because they didnt/couldnt effect me. This sort of thing could.

The first or second time? Isn't it sad that I even have to ask that?? Since the second was so devastating, I'll go with that answer...I was getting ready for work when the news came on. I was glued to the TV...I saw the 2nd plane hit and was horrified. I spent the next 12 hours glued to my phone because my cousin was on a flight to New York that morning. When he called to say he was ok, of course I was happy, but it was bittersweet because of ALL the lives lost that day.

I was at work in Manchester, England. Before we heard the news, my colleagues and I were in the lift going back to our office after our lunch break. To express the general discontent we all felt at returning to work, I hummed the death march in an attempt at gallows humour...I was stunned when we entered the office and saw footage over the internet of the twin towers being hit. I will never forget it; it has been indelibly seared into my brain. It was like hell on earth and I felt that our lives would never be the same again.
We were all in shock and could not contact any banks in London, so we were sent home.

I had just moved from London to the north east on my own. Was unpacking boxes in the kitchen and caught site of the news flash and thought what a dreadful storyline for a film. I soon realised it WAS a news flash. I was speechless, stunned and felt so helpless. For some reason, i just wanted to drag people in off the street to watch the TV. Often wonder what I'd have done in their situation. Who knows...hope I'll never know.

At work and people just came back from break and said an airplane had just ran into the World Trade Center. I said terrorists. I had been watching CNN that week and I blurted out its probably that Osama bin Laden. And it was. Imagine Oliver North spoke of him back during the Iran Contra hearings. Seems back in the 80's Oliver thought he needed to be eliminated. Guess he was right. Peace out............

I was at home. My sister and I had been talking about how well our new business was going. I was so happy. I went back in my room and turned the TV on. I guess I must have screamed because my sister came running in. I was just sitting there pointing at the TV crying. We could barely move the rest of the day. Simply sat there watching the horror and crying. It still hurts.

i was actually at work. at the time i was in charge of the warehouse section of this company. my brother in law had come in and was talking about some stuff then one of the drivers that worked for this company called and my brother in law put him on speaker phone and he said what had happened. we though he was full of shnit but apparently not.. not long after that one of the managers or the manager i forget. but anyways he came into the office and me him and my brother in law went to a bar not far from there and sat there in front of the big screen and watched all the stuff that was going on. we watched the clips of the plane crashing and watched the towers fall. it was a pretty scary moment for me. i never witness such a catastrophe in my lifetime and so close to home if you know what i mean. i know it could of been thwarted if bush would of taken the threats more seriously. i seen a clip of bush talking to a bunch of kids in a classroom on a documentary. he was sitting there reading a story or something and a secret service guy or somebody lookin like one came in and told him the news. the look on his face told everything. holy sh|t i f#cked up. i watched a flight 93 movie on history channel i think it was and it was very emotional and amazing. i balled like a little baby

Stopping into a convenience store on the way to work. When the guy at the counter mentioned BOTH towers got hit, I first picture small single-engined Cessnas. I crapped when I finally saw the video of a jet.

I was sitting in US History class watching the tube. The entire day all we did in classes was watch the clips over and over on the tv's.
In my last class the teacher turned it off and said okay lets get some work done. Then we worked.
It was like watching a movie, till this day I still feel nothing about it for I didn't have relatives in New York. I was told it was normal for me to feel nothing.
