Area of the hexagon is : 24(sqrt 3)

Volume is
(area of base) * (Height)

Note: height = altitude

500 = 24(sqrt 3) * height
12.03 = height

The base surface is perimeter*apothem /2 = 6*4*4sqrt3/4=24*sqrt3
altitude = 500/24*sqrt3=12.03 in
