Sunil Gavaskar only managed to score one century in his ODI career, and that didn't come until his penultimate innings. He finally made 103 not out against New Zealand during the 1987 World Cup in Nagpur, which he achieved in just 88 balls. He then retired from ODIs after India's defeat to England in the Semi-Final.
Interestingly, he did manage 27 half-centuries, including three scores in the 90s and scored 2,651 runs in 83 innings as an opener for India. Had he not managed to score a century, those figures would have made him one of the best openers never to do so.

Bearing the stigma of scoring 36 runs in 60 overs in inaugural world cup in 1975 against England the one and only Sunil Gavasker finally broke the shackles and scored a hundred in a world cup game against the Kiwis in 1987 in India. Interestingly his only ODI hundred came in just 88 balls which was quite contrary to his batting style as he and Geoff Bycott of England always planned to score faster in the next match and not in the one they were playing.

If it makes you experience extra efficient, Michael Vaughan a great English captain hasn't scored a million ODI century in his profession. He had 40+ trouble-free in try cricket, yet in ODI, he's a complete fail. he's no longer the only one.there are various extra batsmen like him. some batsmen are keen to play sluggish and patiently instead of rapid and aggressive. Their documents are stricken by this. a great cricketer is a man or woman who can specialise in each and all of the codecs whether that's batting or bowling. in spite of the fact that, Gavaskar replaced into nevertheless a great participant, even with being a fail in ODIS. another gamers that fail in ODI whilst in comparison with their try documents Rahul Dravid-- His trouble-free in try cricket is a lot greater than that's in ODIS (12 centuries) 80+ a million/2 centuries. Inzamam ul haq- comparable for him (10 centuries in ODIS) 80+ a million/2 centuries Steve Waugh- Very low trouble-free in ODIS (3 centuries in ODIS) Mahela Jayawardene- Very low trouble-free in ODIS (12 centuries)* Younis Khan- notably low trouble-free in ODIS as properly. (6 centuries in ODIS)* Michael Vaughan- notably trouble-free in ODIS as properly (0 centuries in ODIS)
